The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to prospective candidates preparing for the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, highlighting five critical pitfalls that routinely jeopardize admission prospects.
In a public advisory released via its official social media channels, the examination body noted that many candidates lose admission slots due to avoidable administrative errors and poor preparation rather than a lack of academic capability.
The board identified late preparation as the foremost threat to candidates. Waiting until the final weeks before the examination severely limits mastery of the syllabus and creates unnecessary panic during registration periods.
Another major trap involves selecting incorrect subject combinations. JAMB emphasized that mismatched subjects render candidates instantly ineligible for their chosen courses, regardless of how high they score on the test.
